To My Boy

Dearest Tim,

I understand that a couple of parents have candy or toys when they come to pick up their children from preschool. It is how they get them in the car. The promise of treats. You heard this through the grapevine and now expect a Transformer (Transbormer)every time I come to collect you. Which would be 12 Transbormers a month. Pretty sweet deal. Not gonna happen. I love you too much to bribe you to obey Momma. When I tell you to get in the car I expect you to get in the car. I can promise you hugs and kisses, a ride home, peanut butter, honey sammiches for lunch and my eternal love.
I am willing to endure your yelling, screeching, whining and kicking in response to the word no. I am willing to fight this battle with you now while you are 5, not when you are 15.
You are the best Tims I've ever had!
Love,
Momma

Owch - I HATE the word no too. But IF my Mom had given me ALL those things instead - I would love her eternally.
Just tell him you're a MEAN Mom - that's what I had to remind my kids of OVER AND OVER AND OVER again b'c they just thot I was ONLY loving. ;) LOL!

Little people, little problems. Big people, big problems. It's good that he knows that he can count on you to make and keep the rules! He will be happier when he is 15 (okay, maybe 25)!

yea, you said it, better at 5 than 15.
I had this conversation with my kids this morning. Learning to vent frustration in a healthy way at home instead of not knowing a healthy way and getting frustrated at school or at a job or with a girlfriend. And venting and um, getting arrested?

I know you wouldn't have to worry about that with YOUR kids though. This is just my kids :)
