Manic Monday

I needed to pick up some things at a thrift store. I usually go on Mondays because it is 25% off. I walked in and was completely overwhelmed with the crowds of people and heard over the loudspeaker that because it was Martin Luther King's birthday everything was 50% off!! A winter coat for Sarah for $5, a winter coat for Nathan for $3, a snarky tshirt for Joshua for $2, and Buzz Lightyear jammie pants for Tim for $2. A $12 success thankyouverymuch NOW GET ME OUTTA THIS STORE!

There is an assumption out there that people cannot "afford" children. It is one of the top reasons women give for abortion. Financial insecurity.

This, my friends is how we "afford" our children. God helps us pay the bills and He provides food, clothing, shelter etc. :)

You said it, sistah.
Thrift stores or friends with bigger kids than yours!

I had an acquaintance ask how we didn't go broke on Halloween costumes. I didn't buy a thing this year. I had 2 ninjas, an elf and a mad scientist.

Do you get this as much as me? People with less kids than 4 always emphasize how much more of a hardship it must be for us - I mean... you have FOUR!!!!
But you are so right. God does provide.

Actually four seems to be the minimum around here. :)

i need to move there :)
My sister-in-law says its very common in her town, too. I'm an oddity here though. (That might be the case regardless of number of children :} )

You are not an oddity. Since we are approximately the same age and have 3 boys and 1 girl I do believe that makes us SISTAHS!!

I know families with 6, 10 and 12 children. Quite a few with 4 and 5. :)
