Sarah just called me from school. I assumed it was a little more important than a reading book was needed for Silent Reading. The book was on her desk. Would I please bring it to school? No. Sorry. Your classroom has skads of book shelves full of books and there is this place called The School Library that could provide what you seek. By the time I wrassled Tims out to the van and drove to school, Silent Reading would be over.

I LOVED Silent Reading! We called it USSR for Uninterrupted, Sustained, Silent Reading--always had to be cross teaching to get more information in our brains. However, I didn't know what the real USSR stood for until it was dissolved.
We had USSR.
And then we had
DEAR. Drop Everything And Read. :)
When I was working, my daughter would call me to bring her a book. Oh no she di-n't!
I love it!
How did she convince Mrs. Ida that was needed?
That girl, I love her.
I called my mom once for cough drops.
p.s. I STILL love silent reading. I think we're going to implement USSR and DEAR at the Des house.
Daddy,
Who knows with that girlybug? She chuckled when I told her no. Nice try.
She chuckled when you said no?? That's awesome.
TISF!
What's TISF?
THAT IS SO FUNNY! TISF!
It's a new thing I'm doing. It's a pretty big deal. You know.
In the school in Kuwait where I taught we had DEAR. I taught 2nd grade girl enrichment. They LOVED to have silent reading. They were actually...SILENT!
TC,
Silence is golden. I think I will have to have a SILENT READING SUMMER! :)
