Update Found the pictures. I am posting them because I am now my before picture once again and would someday like to be the after picture. Again.
My husband and I did Body for Life about 8 years ago. We lost body fat and inches, gained muscle and had more energy than we knew what to do with. I submitted by before and after pictures and my thoughts to Muscle and Fitness magazine and was featured in the July 2002 edition. If I knew how to scan or had a scanner I might post that article. Or not. There has been a joke between Pat and I since those days.
Pat "We really need to get back in shape."
Carla "I thought we were working on our before pictures."

Are you in the coping corner, by any chance, during this conversation?
Anyway what about the triathalon you just did? Surely that helped your shape. (not that I mean that it needed help.)
And cool, you were featured in the magazine.
I've been working on my "before" picture all my life.
LOL!
I know how you feel. I'd like to get back to my "after" pictures of ten years ago.
Maybe you could start a Four by 40 diet/fitness club.
Nah. That would probably scare everyone away. :(
July 2002? "Muscle and Fitness"? I'm heading to the library. :)
Wow! Look at that picture!! You should be so proud.
Did you do any competitions? What did your children say when they saw it?
By the way, your "before" picture is very good too. You look like a strong woman, much better than being a skinny wimp. Change the pose and I bet you'd hardly notice the difference.
I entered BFL and won a tshirt. :)
Joshua was 4 and Sarah was 1. I doubt they noticed. ha This was all one miscarriage and two little boys ago. So much has happened but I want to recapture something. I want to face the fact that I am addicted to food. I want to reach for God and not a brownie. This hangs on my fridger-
The problem is NOT food. It is a heart that yearns to worship and is enslaved to worshiping food.
TMI?
Wow! Beautiful! Do they make you go tanning too? My word veri is "mylocks" haha! You DO have luscious locks! I remember seeing these pictures in the Hudson paper when I was 15ish, and thinking "Hey! Thats the lady that prays at church all the time!"
I think if you turn sideways in the first pic, suck it in, and get a tan they are almost the same. You look awesome in both:)
Carla,
No, not TMI. I need to switch my food obsession to something that isn't as fattening. Scrapbooking?
Better yet, housecleaning.
Naomi,
HA
LD,
Thank you.
Janet,
Your library has old issues of Muscle and Fitness?
FYI
The pictures I posted are 12 weeks.
I did BFL for 24 weeks. If I can find THAT before picture, I will post that too. :)
"Janet,

They have so many magazines it's crazy, but I just checked on-line and couldn't find it. I'm glad you still have the photo!
Yea, what everyone else said - I wish MY before pic looked as good as yours. Even if it is 12 weeks in.
Here's my TMI...
I have I think 5 bags of chocolate chips in my cabinet. The great news is they're all unopened. Why? Though I don't recommend this, it's the stress diet. We're still struggling to get past Mark's pneumonia. Tuesday was another ER day - though all is fine. We just have to keep saying "his heart and lungs are fine. It just takes time." (when you're this old, and not Naomi's age ;) )
I was going to try to stop all the sugar anyway. Oddly, the stress makes it easier. But it's more a matter of making myself eat anything (you know, besides coffee.)
I should put your quote up on my cabinet. It's the truth.
Don't be too hard on yourself.
I am trying to get motivated to dive into it again. :) I love lifting weights, I love gaining strength and feeling the muscles that God gave me work.
Body for Life is the only thing that has worked for me. It is not about the scale but gaining muscle(muscle burns fat)losing fat and changing your entire shape while eating healthy.
You know and I know Karla that chocolate chips will never meet needs that only God can meet. I do understand stress eating. Coping Corner anyone??
Praying for you, your husband and your kiddoes!!
I think you are beautiful--all the time. Eight years ago and now. I really mean it.
I love how before picture are pale, far away, and stiff-faced. I agree with Laura, get a tan, pose, and a smile and you're just as hot! Funny stuff Carla-you look great when I c you twice a year at Family Fresh. :o)
WOWWWWWWW!!!
