One year ago today my husband Patrick and I started The Debt Snowball. We began throwing as much as we could toward our smallest debt after saving $1,000. I am not the one to crunch the numbers for you. I leave that to Pat. But we have 3 debts left, one being our home. My husband and I had lived on the edge of financial disaster for years. We started out as a married couple, putting the honeymoon cruise, the entertainment center and new tv on credit. We made debt our lifestyle. NO MORE! The credit cards are cut up, the creditors no longer call and the days of playing Beat The Bank are long gone. We are humbled that God has brought us here and He allowed us to see that we haven't been good stewards of all that He has entrusted to us.
A big thank you to Dave Ramsey as well!! Even though he hasn't yet confirmed my friendship on facebook, I think he's awesome!!

Other than our house, the credit card debt is all we have. One of them paid off through a loan we got through Mitch's work where the payments get deducted weekly through his check. The other cards we have are 9% or lower interest and the debt is shrinking all the time. ;)
We haven't taken the Dave Ramsey class, but I hear a lot about him and they offer the class at church.

Our son was the first one who told us about Dave Ramsey. When he lived in the southeast, he used to listen to him on the radio, but son laughingly says he had to stop listening because the people who call in and yell, "I'M DEBT FREE!!" were very annoying to his not-yet-debt-free self. But, he's working on it.
We have since become fans too because Dave appears on Fox News.
Wow. I'm impressed.
And seriously envious. I'd be thinking about what to buy next...which probably explains why I'm in debt, and you are not!
