Thank You, Josh

Dear Joshua,
You are such a joy for so many reasons. This morning I watched you trudge off to school wearing Momma's boots. You didn't complain. In fact, you thanked me and said you could wait until I found some boots in your size. You have had the same backpack since preschool. You are so proud of that fact. Your clothes are all hand me downs or from the thrift store. You are thrilled with t-shirts and jeans. You were as blind as a bat last year in school until we saved up enough to buy you glasses. You were so happy when we bought them. You never complained when Griffen the cat used your closet as a litter box. You helped me clean it up and forgave him. You go to your friend's houses and play with all their techno toys and do not beg for any of it for yourself.

I stand in awe of your contentment. You have much to teach me.

I love you, son.
Mommy

Wow - you guys are lucky... but then again, so is he.

I had my almost 12 yo son read what you had to say. He said - Wow! That's amazing.

He also wonders what Josh's other interests are.

Thank you, Karla and son!
Joshua complains about homework and chores. So...there's that.

Joshua's interests include drawing superheroes, writing stories, reading, sledding, building with Legos, and having Daddy burn him Christian rock CD's.

Karla,

Did you get dumped on with snow? We got over 6 inches here in MN.

Carla -- This post brought tears to my eyes. What a great kid. I know how proud you must be of him, and it's great that he will always have these words you've written to remind him of that pride.

Jana - I'm thinking you're asking Carla about the snow? But if you were asking me, I'm in CT, and we haven't gotten dumped on yet. Last year we waited a long time to get dumped on. Not that we didn't get any snow, but not like some years.

:( and I never got to sled once.
