It Hurts to Comply

I think Sarah has a little selective hypochondria going on.

Mom "Sarah, what is 2 X 5?"
Sarah "My lips hurt so bad!!"
Mom "Sarah, let's go over your Awana verses."
Sarah "Ow, my back."
Mom "Sarah, please set the table."
Sarah "I hurt my foot today at recess. See? I'm limping."

Before I make a diagnosis and write up a treatment plan, I will need to observe more of this behavior. All symptoms seem to disappear when I ask her to go to Target with me.

"See? I'm limping." Love it.

Boys suffer the affliction as well...

Our son had a touch of this when he was a little boy. We used to say that when we put him to bed, he gave himself a physical! He would come to his bedroom door repeatedly and call down to us that he had a scratch on his arm, or his toe hurt, etc. ANYTHING to keep from having to go to sleep! I guess we should have offered him a trip to Target! :)

They're so adept at those excuses. I asked my 2 year old to help me hang up the laundry and I think she'd helped me before ... her response, "me too young" and she walked away - well I cracked up - ...
