I did not have a good day yesterday. The bigs didn't have school. I tried to have fun with my children. They were banshees instead. The screaming, whining, crying, fussing and teasing lasted pretty much the whole day. I prayed, did devotions, used timeouts, roomtime, loss of privileges, yelled and finally told Joshua I needed to go for a drive. I drove around the block and collected my head enough to make supper. I realized that my children CHOSE their attitude, behavior and day as much as I did.
Pat asked, "How was your day?"
I said, "Horrible."
Pat "Well, aside from being horrible, how was it?"
Me "Fine."

We had a similar morning with Abby off of school, too. It culminated with me screaming at the top of my lungs and yelling "shut up" a couple of times. I'm not proud of that. Abby promptly rebuked me and after I calmed down I had some forgiveness to ask for. Not fun. I spent the afternoon meditating on the psalms in desperation. I went back to a favorite lifeline:
"Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips. Let not my heart be drawn to what is evil, to take part in wicked deeds." PSALM 141:3-4
This morning I began my day with that.
Hope your day is more peaceful today. I'm going to Aldi. I'll need prayers for that. :)
kj,
So sorry.
Thank you Lord that your mercies are new every morning.
Carla, I'm so sorry about your day. I'm praying that today will be better.
Sounds like everybody had a lousy President's Day.
Sorry, friend.
Yesterday was Presidents Day?! Oh, yes. Yes, of course.
Mine wasn't much better. My theory..we're all getting a little couped up...spring is coming..where we can send the cherbus outside. I wasn't a patient Mom, either. Thanks for the verse, Kara..thinking I need that one on my fridge now.
My DH ventured to call about noon to see how it was going...my response was, besides the toilet being plugged up, Bethany screaming a huge fit over sandals, David making Faith scream, Faith copying every stinking scream of Bethany's...fighting with a certain child to do.his.homework...a tummy ache due to a minor crohn's attack....we're doing just.fine.
I would think for President's Day, the kids should be in school learning about...oh..let me just suggest...Presidents? Good grief.
So happy to see Tuesday.
I agree with Sheri~
Who cares about dead Presidents anyway?!
I even used a naughty word yesterday myself, although I backed it up with the justification that Pastor Larry says it is not a sin to swear....
oops
