Risk

For the first couple of days of summer school I thought I would take the whole crew. Joshua hauled out the double stroller and we started on our 3 block walk. Why the wide berth that cars give us? It is not so much the wide berth but the dirty look that I get. Ever tried to stay close to the curb with two wheels on the street and two near the gutter? I looked like I was strollering drunk. SUI. We reached the four way stop that I dread so much. Before I had cherubs I would just cross and dare a car to hit me. Now I waited until cars on both sides of me had stopped. I assumed they saw us. A 10 year old boy, a 6 year old girl, a double stroller filled to the brim and the Mom. I was halfway through the crosswalk when a car decided to go. Oh, they drove slow enough and mouthed Sorry to me but, STOP! I so wanted to swear. I think I did in my head. I asked Joshua if I was doing it wrong. He answered, "Mom, you don't just walk. You gotta stand there and wait until some nice person waves you across." Relying on the kindness of strangers can be risky at best.

I'm glad you had Josh with you for guidance. He's one heckuva kiddo!

He tells it like it is, that's for sure!
