Driven

Every day for the last couple of months Sarah has been bringing home a 10 page math packet. She is in first grade. The word tedious comes to mind. On a Wednesday Awana night the last thing I have time for is story problems-page after page of them! I wrote a note to the teacher telling her that we may not be able to get the packet in on Thursday mornings. Signed, Poor Excuse for a Mother. Sarah's teacher wrote a prompt reply and I groaned as I read it. Sarah asks for the worksheets on a daily basis. They are optional.
I know. I know. I should have nipped it in the bud at parent-teacher conferences, but I was speechless after Sarah's teacher told me what a sweet, kind, helpful girl she was. Oh, and she has good manners too.

Tell her to come on over...I've got plenty of NON-optional math packets (not to mention Social Studies, English and Science) for her to do.

How is she at range, median, mean and mode? Anatomy of the kidney?
