I homeschooled my eldest son Joshua for 3 years. We worked quite a bit on letter recognition, the sound each letter makes and then we dove into Hooked on Phonics. (I called it Phooked on Honics.)
One thing clearly stands out as I recall those days. Whenever I showed Joshua the letter K and asked him what letter it was he always said, "Stick with a boing off." When he did learn to call it K he still said that phrase first. I believe it was to drive Mommy bonkers. He almost succeeded. Now that Sarah has heard the story she has taken it upon herself to keep it up. Lucky Mommy. I get to hear "stick with a boing off" everyday!
