I love SuperNanny. I think we could be good friends. I have watched her show for years. I feel strangely comforted after seeing what goes on in other families. For the past 2 days I have been putting Timmer's rumpus in a time out corner when he completely melts down. Yes, he got up. Yes, he ran away. It seemed like a billion times I parked him back in the corner. It was probably closer to 20 times. Getting back his self control bought his freedom. Over the course of these moments he has taken to screaming at me, "I am serious, Mom!! I am serious!!"
Yeah, buddy. I am too. I love you too much to let you act this way.

Can I ever relate.
Have seen Jo, but don't really watch the show.
Been having trouble with appropriate church behavior and sadly, it is not the behavior of my youngest, as you might expect.
But it is as you say - I love you too much to let you act this way. Though our discipline may seem "mean" to them, we are gentle compared to the consequences that can be dished out in life for poor behavior.
Being a mom is serious business!
