He Hears

I am in the valley of Motherhood Monotony. I say the same things over and over and over. I make the same requests and the same demands and try to be consistent with the same standards. Get the picture? I often wonder if anything is seeping into the four hearts and brains that have been entrusted to me for such a very short time. At times I am discouraged as I cannot see the big picture and feel that "in one ear and out the other" is my story. I got just a glimpse today of something taken to heart. Joshua held the door open for another student at the middle school. That boy is listening.

When you plant a seed, it doesn't suddeny sprout. It takes time, water and sunhine. Then suddenly, one day, you have a plant. And even then, the wait continues. It takes a plant coming to maturity for it to produce fruit. So it is with boys and girls. Hang in there! It does pay off. Consider this time in your life the waterin', fertilizin', weedpullin' season.

(and I'm not kidding, my word verification is "frathous". oh, the irony.)
