Joshua forgot to write his name on an assignment for one of his classes. The consequence for that infraction is lunch detention and writing in cursive 100 times My Name is Joshua Stream. He started about two weeks ago. As of yesterday he has written the above 46 times. Maybe the finished product will make a nice Christmas gift for the teacher.

I think Christmas gift for the teacher would be very fitting.
Our teachers just deduct, maybe 5 points, for that.
It does seem a little extreme...but I would bet he won't do it again!
Poor Josh. Poor Josh's hand. :(
Yeah, xstream.
He will for sure be better at cursive!! Love that silver lining.
What happened to logic? Isn't it enough to simply say if he doesn't put his name on the assignment, he doesn't get credit for it?
Oh my gosh.....wow!! Poor kid!! :( Yeah, frame that sucker and give it to her for Christmas. ;)
That is a little much.
Anonymous,
I must be "old school". Kids had to do this all the time when I was young. In third grade I had to write "I will not sigh in class" 100 times. And it was due the following day. Really!
Sigh. :)
As a former middle school teacher I cam think of a lot of other ideas that do not waste so much time.
A friendly reminder. Wait while the student writes his name.
Take a shoe from the student for the class hour.
Take a few points away.
Tape the offending paper on the board. No credit until it is claimed.
Write the name yourself since you know whose paper it is.
A high five every time it IS written on the paper.
Hi Carla,
I didn't know you are a teacher! I'm sure you were much more popular with parents and kids than Joshua's teacher!
"A high five..." Great idea!
Janet,
I have a degree in Special Education
Mild to Severely Mentally Challenged grades K-12, Elem. Ed grades 1-5 and Learning Disabilities grades 6-8
I used to be pretty smart. :O
Carla,
You still are!
