Nathan "Why can't the man in the yellow hat stand George?"
Mom "I think the man in the yellow hat loves George."
Nathan "No. He can't stand him."
Mom "Nathan, I think George is naughty sometimes but the man in the yellow hat does care a lot about George."
Nathan "Mom, the man in the yellow hat doesn't stand what George is saying. Sometimes I don't either."
I guess I can't stand Nathan at times either.

LOL, my kids get 'annoyed' and 'ignore' mixed up.
And frankly sometimes I can't stand it.
Haha--when Shirley talks to me oh-so-earnestly, I can't stand her, either. We're working on it. :)
