I helped Joshua with his homework yesterday. I totally understood division of fractions and was very proud of myself for being AS smart as a 5th grader. Not smarter than as I have been stumped so many times this year. I tried to help Sarah after that, figuring it would be simple simon. We tried for awhile to figure out the volume and area of a rectangular prism using base 10 blocks. Nothing doing. I am not smarter than a 3rd grader.

And I am not smarter than a 2nd grader. Decimeters? I had to check the parent note sheet to find out what that was.
I remember the big push when I was in 2nd grade to know the metric system because the USA was going to be converting, dontcha know.
B x H x W = Volume
B X H = Area
Hope I helped! ;)
Well JanaSmarty,
I shall come back to your comment when Sarah has homework tomorrow!
I hope I pass 3rd grade math. I tell ya.
just wait till your littles come home and you have to multiply using the lattice method.. Have your bigs learned to multiply that way?
YES! Lattice Schmattice. Why can't they do Normal Math?
Lattice is very interesting. So is partial products.. have you seen that one?
Oh yeah. Are you a math teacher, Jana? I am starting to feel the opposite of smarty around you.
I got my bachelors degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Math.
Partial quotients is interesting too...
I taught 7th grade math for about four months.... it was an awful experience. I felt like a babysitter and didn't get to do much teaching. I had fist fights, vandalism, and theft. I had total disrespect every day! I would be lucky to get a fourth of my lesson done in an 80 minute period.
I am sorry about your 4 month season in the Hormoney Jungle. That is awful! I had a year teaching that I shall never forget. Never thought I would teach again.
I eagerly await homework today...
I msy need your cell phone #. :)
