I have a lamp that has a mind of its own, which seems to fit in this house. It goes off and on when it feels like it. I have tried joking with it, reasoning with it and ignoring it. This morning the lamp turned off when I needed it to be on so I grabbed it by the neck and shook it. Lampy knew I meant business and stayed lit until I finished my book.

Carla - you might want to unplug that lamp and have it checked out. It sounds like you may have a damaged wire, short or loose connection.
Don't want to enter the pearly gates prematurely.
Haha,
I have this lamps brother!
Mine is in my bedroom and when we move its going to the dump asap!
Mayhaps Carla is headed down the same electro-path as her husband?
OH NO! Except it will be 110 instead of 220.
110, 111 whatever it takes.
I had a hair dryer that one day decided to have a mind of it's own.
One day it would randomly turn off and then turn on and then off. Hair dryers are expensive and I didnt want to get a new one. Plus I had class in like 20 min. So I kept trying to use it.
I decided that when it started shooting sparks I should probably stop using it. Sadly I was only half way though blow drying my hair. haha
Looks like I am starting to draw power away from household electrical things. I hadn't thought of that explanation until now. But it makes sense. My powers are increasing.
Hi Carla,
My "lampy" went crash-bang! a couple years ago when Wyatt decided that lamps weren't necessary in the living room. It's had "a mind of it's own" ever since. Just wanted to let you know I can relate. :)

I'm just like that lamp.
I think Chris has a good point!! ;) Your post is hilarious though! I haven't duked it out with a lamp, but have had issues with our former (yes, FORMER!) Playstation 2 - and finally got it replaced. That and my screwy iPod! That also was replaced! LOL I show my electronics who's boss with my "put out or get out" policy. ;) LOL
