Teacher Night

I was not looking forward to conferences last night. Joshua and Sarah have struggled to achieve grade level in their subjects. The whining, crying and hard work have paid off. Both teachers said that there have been improvements in all subjects for J and S and they are both at grade level in everything. I suppose I should have stopped at one "Really??" Sarah went from a 1st grade reading level to 3rd in 6 months! Really?? Yes. We were really talking about the Stream children. This has been the first conference Ever that has brought glad tidings about The 3 R's. My work here is done.

Right on!
My oldest who is in a special ed kindtergarden with 8 other boys has been improving a lot lately too.
I started getting on myself about reading to him more (at least 5 times a week), I was slacking off and did it less & less, and with in the last 3 months of school he's been doing much better in all areas on academics!
Amazing what the power of books can do a child as well ad nagging them a bit more! ;)

One time when Gunny was struggling a little in grade school, Hubby and I went to the parent/teacher conference wondering what we were going to hear. You know what confirmed to us that the teacher didn't have good news? When she prayed at the beginning of our talk (it is a Lutheran grade school) f.o.r.e.v.e.r! It was customery to pray, but when she went on and on and on, we knew for sure the news wasn't going to be good!
