In The Valley
She usually sits one or two rows ahead of us in church with her husband and child. She has 5 children under the age of 7. This week she looks thinner and has lost quite a bit more hair. She is battling breast cancer. I can't seem to take my eyes off of her. She stands and sings in worship and praise with her eyes closed. She adores Him and I love watching her love Him. I do not know her very well but I make my way to her after the service. I say that I am praying for her and I give her a hug. Feels wholly inadequate and awkward. Her smile to me is radiant. I walk away wanting more. More of the God she serves.

Thank you for sharing this. I feel the same way. Evey week when I get the updates at AWANA, her husband relates them with a smile on his face and pride for her in his voice. They are amazing people leaning on a more amazing God.
Amazing.
And not a negative thing in their journal.
Amazing.
This family shines Christ like no other.
I saw an old friend in the grocery store recently, without hair. But, she was radiant. She has had cancer for 9 years, and has been having almost continuous chemo for the last 4. I walked away from her feeling just like you did. That's who I want to be if I'm in that position.
Thanks, Carla.
Beautifully written; poignant. Thanks.
