Eat It
This pile of bread crumbs has sat in the yard since December. I told my cherubs that we would get to watch all of the creatures come and enjoy the harvest. Scampering near to partake of the bounty. Hardly. Squirrels can be such snobs.
What is the wild life world coming to? The critters at my house have turned up their little picky noses at my pile of stale almonds for about a month now. Sheesh.
Ya, I am thinking like Keithslady, perhaps they need something on it. Something squirrely....Like Corn oil? Cornmeal? Something that soaks in..... You know, like how we need butter and salt on popcorn:)
Um....Word Verification is:emases A little bit meaner than calling them snobs, don't ya think?
Maybe it's because your breadcrumbs are in weird shapes? Like the construed (sp?) chicken in chicken nuggets. Maybe they're after more wholesome fare. I mean, no judgement.
Upon further inspection, it looks like your bread was cut into french-fry shapes? I take it back. Clearly your bread crumbs are very wholesome, leaving me at a loss. Your squirrels are hoity-toity jerks. I take back the : ).
If we let Timmers out this winter he'd probably take'em all in before we notice - and then we'd say "Boy, those squirrels finally figured out this food is for them."

Mystery solved. I kept wondering how much we've been spending on bread crumbs each week.
I bet they wanted it toasted with butter and jelly....
Pat, wouldn't that be "dough we've been spending on breadcrumbs"?

The neighbors must put out better fare. I blame them.

I did see our daughter eating one the other day.
