When asked to do something around here the cherubs answered with What? Why? or No. I decided that after much yelling, pleading and begging to say YES MOM and do it I would try a more positive approach. The Littles get the white chips, Joshua red and Sarah blue. When the jar is full the one with the most chips gets Stream bucks(not to be confused with Schrute bucks)for the video games and snack machines at the hotel.

What is the value of a Schrute buck? And how about the Stanley nickel? I love references to The Office.
Great idea, Carla.
I can't wait to see your post about the day when Timmers says "Yes mom, I will gladly bring all these chips to Sarah and congratulate her most graciously for winning."
I can't wait either.
A great idea! Be sure to tell us how it works.
We recently instituted a similar system. Using pennies, when you reach 100, you get a small reward (different each time.)
They get pennies for certain steps of getting out the door to school in the morning. If they need to be yelled at about it, they LOSE the penny.
Potty talk - minus a penny (or more, depending on the offense.) Name calling - minus. You get the idea.
Doing a good deed without being asked, or helping a sibling - plus a penny or more.
It's helping. But still a lot of work (wait, Jack, did you take your get dressed penny?)
I like how your littles are 2 for the price of 1.
And interesting how you have one winner (I don't think mine would deal well with that competition. We were addressing other issues.)
And the other funny thing is, my daughter is half-way through her third hundred, 2 boys are done with their second hundred, and the third is doing extra chores (yay!!!) to reach his second hundred.
This time we'll go out for ice cream when all have reached 100 the second time.
Good luck!! (But come on, you don't have to yell at your angelic cherubs.... :) )
I used pennies for awhile with each when they were younger. :)
No, I don't have to have to yell. I reach my limit and I yell and it is something that God and I are still working on.
Sandra,
So far so good! "Yes Mom and obedience is music to my ears."
Oh, Carla, I am working on that one with God, too.
