Vacation
The laundromat is Disney World. I kid you not. The Littles and I ventured there yesterday to wash two loads of blankets. They were completely thrilled with the spinning machines full of soap and water and loudness! They made friends with the owner who allowed them to take turns running to all corners of the place and wave to each other on the surveillance camera monitor. The helpful worker gave them tennis balls to bounce and basket rides. I even tried my hand at the change machine and won $5 in quarters! Timmers said I was the wiener. We laughed and played and frolicked until all wash was done. We waved goodbye to our new friends, told them we would be back and today we will enjoy the fond memories we made at The Magic Kingdom.

Sounds like a deal...who wants to fly to FL anyhow.
Isn't it great when two children can have so much fun and good memories for $8? Excellent.
I want to go!
Cancel your flight to Florida, skip the condo rental and get yourself on down to the Laundrymat with your girls!!! Vaycay for under $10!
I'm home alone..and what do I check? Your blog. It always brings me joy. Thanks for giving us your view on the world....lovely.
My son used to ask me EVERY DAY to take him to the laundramat. Fortunately the one near us is really clean. For 50 cents, he had a great time watching his coat go around the dryer, pushing different settings, opening and closing the door, watching the minutes count down...weehah!
Good Times!
I discovered (by accident) that a helium balloon tied to the wrist of wandering "Little"s allows you to keep track of them without racing all over. Gabe doesn't go laundromatting without one.
keithslady,
That is genius. Especially in large crowded places. That would have been immensely helpful a few years ago. :(
This is a great story -- fun to visualize!
But, what strikes me most about your experience is how much employees can impact how their place of business is perceived by customers. You can't pay employees enough to "make" them do the things they did to entertain your kids! They just have to have the instincts, and heart, for it.
Every time you tell this story in your neighborhood, the laudromat benefits, as well they should.
A great story. And, btw, I also love blackbelt oma's story about taking her son to the laudramat to watch his coat go 'round.
I can't believe I never thought of taking my kids to the laundramat for entertainment!
I like your idea, Carla. Maybe I should try that because I AM SICK AND TIRED OF CLEANING MY HOUSE!
