In a case when it is being used to keep a child's mouth shut, or out of habit, I agree. But, some people are using nuks now that are prescribed by their dentist for mouth/craniosacral problems to help with proper developement. I just saw a 4 year old getting one at the dentist this spring, they were putting flavoring on it and trying to get him to suck on it to help lift the roof of his mouth. You just never know?
Any suggestions on losing the Nuk? I have a 2-year-old that we are trying to break the Nuk habit with, especially when she is talking. We tried doing the "only at night-time" thing, but when the new baby came along, she seems to think she can have it anytime. I need help--got any advice from experience?

I say children older than three with NUKs at ALL! But I wholeheartedly agree with you Mrs. Stream.
Yep. Same here.

Hi Cara,
My cherubs never took Nuks but I have friends who just kept cutting little pieces off and well when it's gone...it's gone.
My niece told me hers was "broken" and she threw it away herself. :)
That's all I've got but oh I am sure there are so many other ideas!!
We just cut a hole in my son's and he couldn't get suction and he stopped sucking it within 2 days. He was 2.
