Food is Love

That is the message I received while growing up at least. You and I know that it simply isn't true. Food is not love.
I was reading Arthur's Teacher Trouble last night to Nathan. There is a part that I have never read to my children. I always change it.
When Arthur got home, he slammed the back door. "How was school?" Mother asked. "I got the strictest teacher in the whole world," grumbled Arthur.
"Have a chocolate chip cookie." said Mother.

Can you believe that??!!

I change it to this. "Oh, Arthur I am so sorry. Sit down and tell me about your day."

I'm glad you changed it! Too many parents these days just pass over stuff with food or TV or video games - good for you! I wonder how the story would have been told if Marc Brown's wife had written it? Does he have a wife? LOL!!!

So many books for kids - even current ones - have surprisingly horrible things in them. Like, "I'm sure my parents won't mind, as long as I'm home in time for supper." just before the child leaves with some pirates he just met.

True story!
