Shades of Gray

I have been trying to get back to my natural hair color for about a year now. I have done the blond thing for long enough. High maintenance. My hair is really more brownish. Low maintenance. Last night I stood in front of the mirror for a long time. I was inspecting my Hair Project. I was feeling pretty satisfied until I saw some glints of gray. I started counting. 5 or 6 gray hairs were just sitting there. I gave them a good talking to. They are not welcome here. Not yet. I told them to go and get their friends, cause they would be moving on. I lied. They were not moving on, they were being plucked out. I did just that. Plucked them out, held them against my black sweatshirt, shuddered at their wiryness and flushed them away. Ugh. I am praying that when I get to my natural color, it will not be gray.

Right there with ya sistah, except I leave them--they are badges of honor, I earned those suckers, I'm keepin' 'em.

I will consider doing that when I am your age. Muhahahahahaha

If that is not playful banter I am in trouble with myself.

I am 100% with Kristi. For about five years no one noticed the few greys I had, but lately I've noticed that when I put my hair up in a ponytail there is a skunk streak of grey. Absolutely a badge of honor! And if you had four by 40 you can't be too far behind me. Question--should you still wear a ponytail if you have grey hair?

I tell you what. I will proudly wear my stretch marks as badges of honor and pluck away the gray.

Gotta love a momtail, Keithslady.

You know of course that when you pluck one 10 more come back to take their place. You just committed to 50 more.
I bottle-blonde right over mine and call it frost.

I thought if you plucked one, seven more came to it's funeral?
I started finding gray hairs when I was 17. I have never plucked them. I'm too scared.

*L* glad I'm not the only one. I pluck them and call the kids so they can see how coarse and weird they are. My dad has a head full of gray and white hair. Each strand smooth and silky. My conclusion: the ones I fond aren't "real" gray or white hairs. They're anomalies...nothing more *s*

I'm finding white eyebrow hairs! That is just as awful.
You have to get real close to the mirror to see them, Arg.
Pluck.Pluck.Pluck.

My hairdresser says if you have a good hairstyle you don't need a ponytail- What does she know?
