The Streams are shameless call screeners. The telemarketers have taken their toll on us and now the ringer stays OFF and the machine lets me know who wants to chat. My cherubs have not worked on their phone skillz. Except cell skillz of course. All in good time, friends. I do so enjoy the other children I know who answer the phone with their little angelic voices.
"Hello."
"Hi, is your Mom there?"
"Yes."
I wait and wait and wait. I wonder how many minutes are left in the shower, will she ever wake from her nap, how long it takes to throw a tuna casserole in the oven or if said friend is trapped under something heavy.
"Do you want me to go get her?"

Mrs. Grosz' children are my favorite phone answerers.
I'm right behind ya. Are you posting more today? :)
I can't post fast enough for you, Katie? :)
My kids are in the midst of learning to be good phone users. I make them do the whole, "Hello, This is Sunshine, Can ____ come to the phone?" She has a friend who calls almost nightly now and when I answer the phone she says, "Hi!" I say Hi back and wait "........Is Sunshine there?" Until she can read and understand what the Caller ID says, though, they're not allowed to answer the phone without an OK from us.
When we moved, we suddenly started getting MASSIVE amounts of telemarketer calls. We couldn't figure out why we hadn't before. Then I found out that Qwest started a new policy...You get a phone number from them. They sell it. Getting your number listed on the Do Not Call List really helped a lot. Now we only get a few survey calls and calls from the Epilepsy foundation.
oops, I botched that link..

I can't get enough of rude, intrusive telemarketers; it is far too fun to torment them. I think I shall blog on my 'telemarketer etiquette' theory...
what are you doing up so early?
My son begs to pick up the phone if it's a telemarketer...Just like Swampy.
"No, I'd rather talk to you for a half-an-hour. Here's your sign."
No, I enjoy listening to the sound of your angel breath.
To be honest when Eli's friends call and ask "Is Eli there?" I say yes and wait. They asked a question, and I answered.
