Clean Up
I seem to be stumbling in the personal hygiene arena with the cherubs. I try hard but sometimes not every bicuspid is getting a good brushing ya know? I am praying that Joshua and Sarah scrubbed their parts in the shower, changed their underthingies and brushed the crumbs from their laps. I suppose I could stand over them at all times and do that hypervigilant mothering thing but then who would cook, do laundry, and clean? Is it me or them? Feels more like me against them sometimes. 4 against 1? Not fair I say! I asked Joshua this morning to wash his hands, please. He said, "I washed them yesterday."

We have problems like this, too. NB whines "I just took a shower, like, TWO days ago!!! Why do I have to do it AGAIN!?" Or - he goes out of his way to make it LOOK like he brushed his teeth when he, in fact, did not. He has an aunt who had HORRIBLE teeth until she was 19 and got them all pulled out. Now she has no teeth at all. You would THINK that would make him want to perform this simple task. My new thing is "We are going to the dentist in three weeks and if she tells me that you are not brushing your teeth then you will have to start getting up earlier so I can brush them for you." I'm lost. I don't know how to make them appreciate cleanliness. I hope it's just a "kid" thing and not a "them" thing! :)
Thanks for your kind comments over the weekend, Carla. I really appreciate them!
You think he didn't wash them yesterday? What am I missing?
You said 'hypervigilant'.
butrfly-I usually have to count while Joshua brushes or set the timer. Soon I hope I can trust him to git r done.
You are welcome.
Swampy-he did wash them YESTERDAY. Can we not wash more than once a day, kiddo??
Tell them that it seems as though they ate yesterday, too. If their theory holds true, they must not have to EAT today, seeing as how they did it yesterday.
Our hygienist tells the kids that they don't have to brush all their teeth, only the ones they want to keep. Hee hee...
Good luck with that...I'm still struggling with it. Yeah, I know.
Well, like I tell our kids "Just because we can do a thing, it doesn't always follow that we should do it.
How many times do you have to do it to prove that you can?
How come I can't see your new picture?
Ask da man.
I upgrades to IE7 and now it works.
See me?
