Great Skate

My husband Patrick skated an inline marathon this past weekend. 26 miles! I am simply amazed at the whys and hows of it all. While he skated, I slept in and then sat on the couch and watched cartoons. I imagined myself out there. Not a pretty picture. First off I don't know any of those other skaters. Why would I want to "draft" with strangers? No Touchy. Then there is my form factor. Trying to stay upright, my arms and legs chopping the wind like blades, stumbling, falling, crying, and finally quitting. The officials standing over me shaking their heads, "Good race, Carla. You flailed almost 1.2 miles. Now go home."
I am the bestest cheerleader though. I have that going for me, which is nice. Next weekend is another race and I will be there with cowbells on. Shouting, screaming, clapping and Whooo Hoooing for my man.

I really don't know how I got out of the habit of inline skating; it feels like another life.

OMG! I envy you. First, your husband actually does something physical. My hubs won't do anything more strenuous than lifting a golf club. Second, you don't look anything close to 40. I'm 40. I can show you what 40 really looks like.

Who needs skating? Whatever you're doing is working.

26 miles! I'm in awe. And here I was impressed with my own 5.25 miles of blading around Como Lake on Monday. You really should join us next time. I'll even walk with you down the "scary hill."

I don't know how he does it either. I can hike my butt off, but when you put wheels on my feet...I don't think it would be a pretty picture!
