She's 6

One would think I have an only daughter named Sarah. She is one of 4 chillers but I find her so blogworthy lately. We are still working on the bedtime routine. Get in bed, stay in bed! We do all the steps in Sarah's routine-brush teeth, drink some water, pick out clothes, read a book. The other night we took drastic measures. She got up out of bed AGAIN and I took her stuffed puppy and her rags.(cloth diapers that are loved to total disgustingness)We told her the same thing would happen last night if she got out of bed. She said, "Oh, that's ok. I have another puppy and another rag. I have a back up plan."

That reminds me of the story Bedtime for Francis.

Sad for Sarah or her parents?

Ahh sounds familiar. DS1 has a blanket that he sleeps with. I am constantly threatening him that I will take it away if he gets out of bed "one more time". Like Sarah- he has a back up and he knows it.

Um - sad for both really. Why is being a parent so darn hard?

That's a retorical question by the way - I'm a parent too.

My sister is pregnant and she already has plans for the baby (same as I did). She is not going to rock the baby ever. The baby is going to sleep when told, etc. Not only does it make me feel like she's judging me as a parent when she says these things, it also makes me think she has no earthly clue what she's in for. Then again she's stubborn as can be and may just be more bullish than the baby.

She's due July 29. I'll stop by and let you know how it goes.

It's hard because it is soooooo worth it. The laughter, the tears, the discipline and the mishaps. We are growing small people into big people.

Oh...I was standing right there when she said it. The conniving, yet so seemingly innocent, look on her face was precious! Then the "I can't believe she just said that" look on your face babe was even better. I love our children and I love you!

Hey - that is right. It's hard because WE CARE.

And...rhetorical with an 'h', I know.

Best.

Nicholas has a million things in bed with him, so taking things away doesn't work very well.

The cute thing is that he's always putting things in Elise's crib so she won't get lonely. He has a theory that she still wakes at night because she's lonely. Cute.

I like that sweet Nicholas!

Hey there. I came over from Mrs. Schmitty's blog!

My daughter will be 5 next week and does everything in her power to prolong bedtime. It's a battle of the wills! Now my 2-year-old is trying to get in on the game but so far I'm hanging tough with her. She actually goes to bed after one story. I know....tough love. ;)

Welcome blondemomblog Jamie! Ah...bedtime! My 10 year loves to fall into bed. I see a light at the end of a very long tunnel.
