A Bird in the Hand

There was a bird trapped on our screen porch yesterday. The screens are completely torn up and coming loose.(I know that none of my children could be responsible for that!)The bird flew in and then panicked. He was cheeping and clawing and flitting around. His bird pals were doing the same. I imagined they all had hot lunch dates and needed to get over to the Olson's bird feeder pronto. I devised a plan. Armed with a pillow and a hockey stick I thought I might go straight for the bird, but the thought of being clawed in the face made me change my mind. I walked outside and left the door open and hit the screen where the bird was. He flew right out. Sweet! I peeked in on my little boys. Nathan was screaming, "Me come out! Me come out!" and Timmers was crying hysterically. I yelled to the bird,"Take me with you!"

To all of you Faithcom bloggers who may check in to Carla's humor I thought I'd let you know that I'm "flying the coop" this afternoon for a 'wedding reception reprieve' tomorrow (OK so I'm bring 4 of the children with me but the ease and pleasure of the 19 and 16 year olds cancels out the difficulties of the 5 and 1 year old).

I just informed Lisa that she will get to wear her flower girl dress for tomorrow's party. She asked me if she could buy a party hat to wear with it. I said we'd think about it. She also asked if she could bring her Michigan Tech sweatshirt in case she gets cold. If you're wondering, she'll be the one looking LEAST like a flower girl.

See you tomorrow!

Dad always had tons of bird feeders hanging all over. When he was at my grandma's house, he'd left the door open for a breeze and in flew a hummingbird. He was able to catch it and hold it in his hand. This tiny little frightened thing in his huge hand. He said it was the coolest thing, just being able to watch it sit there for a bit before it found its way back outside. Sniff.
