Snapshot

A glimpse at my morning is in order. Sarah was in the tub, Joshua was making waffles and feeding Timmers. I finished washing Sarah's hair and found that my waffle maker was on break and Timmers was crying. I continued to make breakfast while feeding #4 and then set the timer for Princess Sarah to get out of the tub. Joshua started to eat along with Nathan and I checked on Sarah. She did drain the water as instructed but used the soap to get things good and slippery. She was a concussion waiting to happen. I gave her a quick rinse with cold water(my bad)and sat her at the table to eat while I blowdried her hair. We had 20 minutes! Joshua and Timmers wanted more waffles, Nathan wanted water and I had not eaten yet. I hopped a fast train to Crabby. Sarah spilled syrup all over her new shirt and she and her dry hair went to find something else. I went to help after cleaning Nathan up. I smashed my hand on a doorknob so hard that I burst into tears. Joshua followed me and asked if he could wear his shoes and not his boots, as his boots were still soaked from yesterday and how was my hand? I put myself in timeout. I needed food-Pronto. I started making scrambled eggs after dropping the Pam spray and breaking the lid into smithereens. Joshua and Sarah were getting their winter gear on. A sobbing mother seems to subdue the cherubs. Hhhmmm. As I sat down to eat breakfast I smelled that smell. The smell that means a diaper change. I kissed, hugged, apologized and said goodbye to my 2 eldest.
I am fed, Timmers is changed, Joshua and Sarah are off to school and Nathan is 3. All is well.

Things could be worse.

This was all before 8:30am, the time when all the singles or married w/out childrens are sipping their coffee quietly and reading the paper thinking, I should really be off to work now. Way to go Mommy Carla!! You did it!

This morning started after my alarm went off...way after, I might add. Didn't sleep well last night, Shannon banging me on the head most of the time. Shannon left soap/conditioner in her hair, had to rinse that out in the sink. Taylor got up late, recycling wasn't out on the curb, dog threw up on the carpet. Taylor puts dog on line in backyard, takes a shower. I go to let the dog in after getting tired of the Bark-Off in the backyard. Feed the dog. Shannon needs a "environmentally friendly" lunch for school, dig out all the little Tupperware/Gladware containers and try to find matching lids. Scramble the two youngest out the door, kick the oldest into high gear and finally leave for school/work only 10 minutes late!

I know it doesn't come close (my hands are still in one piece). We're all right there with you, in the trenches. Just different trenches, hon.

Take a deep breath and praise God!

Love ya!

I really don't know how you do it. Megan went to Public School for Kindergarden, and getting her ready and to the bus on time was nearly impossible. We are not morning people over here!!! The time most people get up and get going is still the middle of the night to us.
