A Simple Request
Dinnertime in this house can be excruciating. The noise, the constant motion, the lack of manners..and that's just my husband and I!! No, the cherubs seem bent on making dinner a fiasco that replays itself every night forever. I was wondering if every family in the world with young children could please send me a videotape of their meals together. I could make a movie. And not feel so alone. Or maybe this assignment should start with a question. Just how many families sit down on a regular basis to eat a meal together?? If you do, send me the footage. Thank you very much.

I flung yogurt at the table once to see what would happen. I was probably 8. It got all over my dad's coat. I still remember thinking it was really strange that he didn't yell at me. I think he was laughing.
p.s. It was ketchup yogurt, believe it or not.
Manners? Dinner time as a family? Is that even possible?? Our almost 9-year-old usually saves his wildest behavior for supper time. He jumps up and runs to the bathroom to "pass gas", (not his word for it!) because he may not do it at the table. You can see what we have for dinner by what he is wearing when he's done. We occassionly have 3 generations of men at the table and the running contest seems to be who can leave the biggest pile of crumbs. The youngest does not always win! (it is eye opening for the mom unit!). But there is always hope! We can dream can't we!!
