Helium Heartbreak

The children in this household are fond of helium balloons. Unfortunately, they do not live long. I can remember all of the Fantastic Sam's balloons floating skyward as I tried to console a sobbing child. One time Sarah got the balloon into the house just fine, but it got tangled in the ceiling fan and died. I was hopeful today though. Sarah and mom had girly time. She received her "school cut" and a balloon. She held on tightly and got her prize into the van. After grocery shopping, I was loading the van and heard the sobbing. Goodbye yellow balloon. It was nice getting to know you, if only for a short time. We trucked back into Econo and asked for one. Sarah assured me that this was it! She was going to be the proud mother and get her baby home. Sarah and her balloon made it out of the van, into the house, past the ceiling fan and to her room. POP! This one lost the will to live and I held my sobbing girl for a good 20 minutes.

One time, my mom let the neighbor girl's balloon go by accident. She ran down the street trying to re-claim it, which, of course, she could not. The next day the neighbor got a bouquet of balloons.
