Little House

I love Little House on the Prairie. I long for that era. I appreciate the fact that our ancestors MADE DO! They made do with what they had and if they did not have it, they did without it. They may not have had everything they wanted, but they had everything they needed, given to them by the good Lord. I think I would have done ok back then. Making my own soap, butter, cheese, and clothes. It seemed to be a simpler time but they WORKED HARD! They worked the land, by gum! You didn't see Charles hitching up the horses, driving into town and working out at Snap Fitness. Caroline never met the womenfolk at Curves. The girls weren't running off to soccer, gymnastics or karate. Half-pint never chatted on her cell phone after Miss Beadle dismissed the class.
I always secretly wished that the Ingalls family was my family. CarlaIngallsStream

But then again, no Wal-marts, no garage sales, no computers by which to voice deep thought-provoking ideas. No washing machines, only one or two sets of clothes. Goods and bads in either time period, methinks.

I've got a friend who can teach you to make your own soap if you want...

Hey, Pepin isn't that far away. 30-40 minutes and you can relive the Ingalls history!

Actually, when I was around 7 years old my mom and her best friend took me and two siblings on a trip through WI, MN, and SD visiting the Ingalls' homes. We were always of the philosophy that visiting the history was better than reading it in a book. Maybe that's why I still like traveling so much...

My fave was when Laura pushed Nellie down the hill in her wheelchair! "you're such a good friend Nellie!" Gotta love it!
