The Bird

Joshua came home from school yesterday and told me he got into trouble in the lunch room. Apparently, he was talking to a friend and he lifted his middle finger and a girl clapped her hand over her mouth in horror and told the lunch ladies. They had to have noticed the confused look on his face as they had to EXPLAIN the middle finger and the F word that it stands for! Now I ask you, Why would anyone assume that a 2nd grader knows that?? My son doesn't! He was made to write out his "think and fix it plan" even though he did not know what he had done and why it was wrong!! Another visit to his teacher and a calming down for the Mommy. I am having such a hard time with the stolen innocence of children! At least when you homeschool you have some level of protection and control and get to filter a lot more out! I have consoled myself with this thought..when Joshua stands up in 8th grade Science class and proclaims that Darwin was an idiot, I will long for the days of my innocent 2nd grade boy!
