I heard Lisa Whelchel on Focus on the Family radio this morning. She played Blair Warner on the show The Facts of Life. She gave up her acting career, married a pastor, had 3 children in 3 years and now homeschools. She said to Dr. Dobson, "I have loved every minute of it!!" Really? For real?
I thought to myself as I drove along and tried in vain to break up the squabbling in the backseat...have I loved every minute of it? Did I love throwing up for 9 weeks straight? Did I love the 2am feedings? Did I love carrying a screaming, kicking 3 year old out of WalMart? Did I love dirty diapers? How about cleaning up after a sick child? Love wasn't quite the word I came up with but I have LIVED every minute of it!! How's that? I have been in the moments with every fiber of my being and I know that nobody else on earth has the divine privilege of being mom to Joshua, Sarah, Nathan and baby Stream. That role is reserved only for me! The blessing and the weight of it hit me right over the head!!
I am happy for Lisa and her love of it all! I need to be honest with myself and say that I may have not loved every minute of it...but I did it all out of a great big love!!

I think that means you have loved every minute of it. I think when people say that about being a mom it isn't the same as saying you loved every minute of the french silk pie with real whipped cream from Baker's Square. That actually would be more like "really liking every minute of it". I think because you do all the mom-stuff out of love it is loving every minute of it. (Even though some of it makes ya want to just go hide in a closet for a couple of hours with a latte and a good book) I could go without the pie but never without my two babies.
